Champorado (mock version)

IMG_7318I will give you here the both the recipes for the mock and true versions.

The mock version is just porridge (oatmeal) with chocolate.  I dissolved some cocoa powder in a bowl of hot water, some sugar to taste, added a few spoonfuls of oatmeal, then nuked it.

The real version….

In a pot of boiling water, dissolve some tableya (ie, cacao tablets) and a little sugar.  Then add some sticky/glutinous rice, keep stirring, until the rice has cooked, fluffed and doubled in size and the whole mixture gets the porridge consistency.  Proportion wise, I’d say 1 to 2 tableya per cup of water (2 tableya would be for those who like the strong, dark chocolate taste), and 3-4 cups of water per cup of rice (you can do this in increments starting with 1:2).

Place in serving bowls and swirl some evaporated milk on top.
